El Camino Real
I think I should share this with everyone. The true joy is that north
of Gaviota, still population 90, things haven't changed all that much.
I hope I can get my young men to come west and take this trip with me.
Though I don't wish them to see the world through my eyes, they are their
own selves, I surely would like to share the things I've seen with them.
There has been so much magic...of people and places.
Ross and I traveled 800 miles yesterday to get artichokes, silly
us....California Road Trip. 800 miles of memories of 80,000 miles of
time past on Highway 101... El Camino Real....8 billion miles of
beauty...and the wonder of the Monterey Bay....to boot! Even
stopped in Buelton for soup. Stood on every on ramp on that road,
once....dreaming.
Then on the way back....it rained fire across the Salinas Valley...the sky
looked like the creation day! I almost thought I was inside
Michealangelo's head when he painted the Sistine Chapel . To the West
above the Coastal Range truly Golden Clouds with roads of shining light,
then brilliant translucent blue traversed by these roads above us that lead
into this fiery angry red sky, molten and moving above and into the Salinas
Mountains....glorious is the right word, simply glorious...
