My future does not lie in the unattainable stars
It is found in deep fractures of collapsed ambitions
softened by moss and vine and slanted soft golden light
I willfully shine on it
I rebuke all attempts to remove debris
Expose jagged alabaster clean and brilliant
As if nakedness is some truth or honesty
More fitting to your analysis and reality
Those days again beautiful, clothed in mist
Wandering heavenly in derelict gardens
seen traipsing lightly now transmuted or forgotten
Unknown whether time or harsh steps brought you there
Tomorrow’s portrait made of yesterday’s tints
Less treacherous and cold than a path untested
Though the vision let loose in shadow may fail
It is still both dream and prospect to me
